Patron Perks Tour
Sapelo Island, Georgia
Wednesday, April 16
We will meet by 6:30 AM at Lowe's just off the island, as the bus will be leaving at 6:45 AM to make the 8:30 AM Ferry from Meridian, GA to Sapelo Island. We will take a privately led bus tour with J.R. Grovner, a direct descendant of slaves brought to Sapelo in the early 1800s to work the plantation. We will explore the island, visit the newly restored Sapelo lighthouse, learn about the J.R. Reynolds Wildlife Refuge and tour the Reynolds Mansion. The Ferry returns to the mainland at 12:30. We will then proceed to Skipper's Fish Camp for lunch and hopefully lay a wreath at the grave of Col. John McIntosh, a Patriot in the area, in remembrance of Paul Revere's ride on April 18, 1775. We will return home and arrive back at Lowe's at approximately 4 p.m. The cost will be $56.00 per person (this does not include lunch). Please wear walking shoes, comfortable clothing, sun glasses, hats and don't forget the bug/no-see-ems spray for the outside adventure.
April 1st is the deadline to make reservations and pay. Please contact Cindy Glenn, 277-7609 to make reservations or for more info. Please make checks out to AIDAR. This will be first come, first served.
