Florida Strawberry Festival organizers collecting materials to publish in upcoming book on 80-year history of Plant City event
The Florida Strawberry Festival is turning 80 next year, making the Plant City event older than most everything else in Florida.
To commemorate the anniversary, organizers are combing through their archives, looking for memorabilia to present in a new coffee table-style book next year. Festival afficianados are asked to help as well. |
Paul Davis, general manager of the festival, and Lauren Der, its spokeswoman, say they know collectors have newspaper articles, photographs, brochures, advertisements and other items of interest that should be in the book. They'd like owners of those materials to bring them by the festival office or go to its website and fill in a description of the items.
Donations or scans of the items are welcome, they said. For more information, go the the festival website at flstrawberryfestival.com.
