New documentary focuses on Florida Jews' military service
Not all Americans recognize that Jewish people have served with honor in all of the nation's military conflicts. Filmmaker Steve Waxman addresses this in a new documentary debuting this month on WLRN-TV, Miami's public television station. "A Call to Serve: Florida Jews and the U.S. Military" is airing on May 13, 18 and 29 on the channel. Among other heroes, the program features retired Army Air Corps Lt. Irwin Stovroff, 91, of Boca Raton, founder of the Vets Helping Heroes, which provides service dogs to disabled veterans.
